My Top 5 Beautycounter Skincare Favorites

My Top 5 Beautycounter Skincare Favorites

Since discovering Beautycounter I’ve slowly been trying out new products and replacing my old go-to products as I use them up.  I now have several in my arsenal that I can’t live without.  Here are my top 5 current skincare favorites.

Cleansing Balm

The Beautycounter Cleansing Balm is a jack of all trades.  It is THE BEST makeup remover.  It took me a little while to get used to the texture, but I started using it regularly and now I can’t live without it.  This stuff takes off every bit of makeup without irritating my skin or drying it out.  Cleansing balm can be used daily as a cleanser or overnight as a moisturizing mask.  I even use it on my kid’s eczema.  The price is a bit steep but it lasts forever (I’ve been using the same tub for about 5 months), and a very little bit goes a long way.

Overnight Resurfacing Peel

Don’t let the name scare you, the Beautycounter Overnight Peel will not actually peel off your face.  It’s made from a combination of botanically-derived acids and is designed to target those lovely fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots that start showing up as we age.  My biggest issue was dry, flaky skin on my face.  Like to the point I really wasn’t wearing makeup anymore because it just highlighted how scaly my skin was.  Gross, I know.  I began using this a few times a week and it’s helped dramatically.  I have pretty sensitive skin and have had no issues, other than healthier looking skin.  This stuff is magical.

Charcoal Cleansing Bar

The Charcoal Cleansing Bar is one of the first Beautycounter products I ever tried.  I keep it in the shower and it also lasts a seriously long time.  This bar is geared toward oilier skin and is awesome for pulling out impurities and detoxifying.  I actually have really dry skin so I don’t use this every day, but after a sweaty workout or to remove build up I use this to really get the gunk.  Dudes and teens love this one too because it has no strong ‘girly’ smell and cleans in one quick step.

Balancing Oil

Beautycounter offers 3 different facial oils, but the #3 Balancing Oil is my personal choice.  It moisturizes and helps balance uneven skin tone and diminish redness.  Kind of like the cleansing balm I mentioned above, the idea of putting oil on my face just didn’t seem to make sense.  I thought it would leave me feeling greasy and more prone to breakouts.  But I gave it a shot and I’m so happy I did.  I like to use the #3 oil at night, alternating with the Overnight Peel, to really let it soak in and do its thing.  My skin is so much softer with this product.

Citrus Mimosa Body Butter

The Body Butter in Citrus Mimosa is my favorite heavy-duty body moisturizer.  It’s super thick but not greasy.  The smell is great, and that’s coming from someone with a serious aversion to most scents.  I’ve always avoided perfumes, mostly just because they all stink to me, but there’s good reason to steer clear of products with ‘fragrance’ listed on the label.  Cosmetic companies are allowed to list ‘fragrance’ as one ingredient even though it may contain a combination of many smell inducing components.  Unfortunately a very large number of those are known allergens, phthalates and carcinogens.  So with that knowledge I like this light citrus-y smelling lotion that much more.

These are just my personal top 5 (current) skincare favorites.  Finding things that actually work can be a bit of a trial and error process, but it’s worth it to me to find high-performing products that are safer and transparent.  Beautycounter offers several different skincare lines aimed at an array of needs.  Click here to browse for other options or leave a comment below with questions!
